Client: Ep+Co (Commercial, Comedy, Young Adult, Chinese-American)

Internal campaign by Ep+Co to support NYC Bodegas and help preserve bodega culture. They commissioned me to write and direct a 1.5-minute skit-type generational comedy, where a Chinese immigrant Matchmaker and a Gen Z Chinese-American girl seeking approval for her boyfriend gain a better understanding of each other and have a closer relationship by the end. It takes place in a long-standing Flushing bodega, the goal was hyperreal comedy about generational issues with a strong Chinese-American flavor, a classic vintage NY feel, all riffing on the many adventures & experiences that can happen in NY.

With a tight budget, the production company Residency, its EP Gaetan, and I acted as a sort of mini-agency ourselves to find this film’s concept, with Ep+Co as the client.
